Project Clutha Off To National Awards
10 March 2008
As a result of being presented with the Trustpower Supreme Community Award for the Clutha District, we were required to produce a 10 minute presentation about our committee, and why we won the award. We would like to show everyone the finished product!
Sarah Andrew and Vicki Philip from Project Clutha are off to the Trustpower National Community Awards to be held in Wanaka on the 28 and 29th March 2008.
After being presented with the Trustpower Supreme Winner Community Award for 2007 at the Rosebank Lodge in May, the committee is fuelled with enthusiasm and positive thoughts about representing, not only our organisation but also the whole district.
“During the awards, we are required to do a 10 minute presentation – showing why we were awarded the Supreme Award for our district, and why we should be awarded with the National Award.” Sarah Andrew, Chairperson explains. “We have been up late during the last month filming, interviewing and editing a video which shows the festival, our formation, our members talking about who we are, and what we do in the community, along with our impact on the district. We are incredibly pleased with the video, and so are our mentors. We produced the video ourselves, as we wanted to show what other skills our group holds, we had a lot of fun doing this, and it was a great experience for some of our members who have never had this sort of experience before.”
The presentations will be held on Saturday 29th March, with the awards that evening. Deputy Mayor Hamish Anderson and his wife Doreen will be accompanying Sarah and Vicki to Wanaka.
This is the first time that the National Awards have been held in the South Island in a number of years, and Project Clutha are hoping to bring the award home to South Otago.
