Celebrate Balcutha At The Big River Festival 2010
Press release Monday 12 October 2009
Project Clutha would like to invite you to the biggest party of the year.
When: Saturday 13th Feb 2010
Where: Clutha Riverbanks, Balclutha
Our 2010 Festival will be a joint party. This is our third year of holding the annual Big River Festival which is sponsored by Clutha Leader, local community newspaper.
The Festival includes the popular Kai Point Coal Raft Race and the Duathlon for adults and children.
Next year also marks 75th years since the completion of the Balclutha Bridge.
“This is perfect for us to tie in with as the festival is held at the start of the year, and under the bridge so it makes good sense” Sarah Andrew Secretary explains
"We are making good progress on a number of events that will be held on the day, and with the bridge having a special birthday next year, it was obvious to tie that into our event, which relies on the bridge," she said.
The riverbank area hosts food stalls and duathlon events and uses the Clutha River for the annual raft race at the festival. The bridge is the race's finishing point. The festival will be held on Saturday, February 13.
We are currently looking for food and beverage stalls for the festival so if you are interested you can download a copy of the Stall Holders Form here or contact Sarah Andrew on 034182985 or email
